Member, Council of Elders at Strahl Composite
We are pleased to introduce Nobukhosi Ntombifuthi Zulu.
Nobu is an experienced human rights advocate from South Africa working in legal practice and research with a special focus on gender access and law, human rights, technology, protection of information and constitutionalism. She presently serves as a Human Rights, Gender, and Technology Consultant and has been a speaker at TEDxLytteltonWomen where she spoke on Digital Colonialism and Human Rights, and most recently as a keynote speaker at the Open Data Institute Summit.
She has previously served as the Knowledge Production and Capacity Strengthening Manager at the Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa where she conducted human rights trainings across the African continent and shaped the discourse on strategic litigation. Nobu was also the Executive Director of the Isibani Law and Therapy Centre and consulted at the Constitutionalism Fund where she identified organizations with best practices in constitutionalism and human rights in South Africa. Her service as a Deputy Chairperson at the National Victim Empowerment Civil Society Organization informed her practices on empowerment and litigation against abuses. Her extensive research activities at the South African History Archives and at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) exposed her to the differences in application of human rights law across jurisdictions with a focus on international migration trends and comparative international human rights analysis. Her work in those two institutions was an extension of her work in the Refugee and Migrant Rights Program at Lawyers for Human Rights in Johannesburg, South Africa.
An avid debater and orator, Nobu can engage in constructive discussions on the application of human rights law with a distinctive global perspective. In addition to her work, she currently sits on the Unyoke Foundation Board of Advisors and is an Advocacy and Administration Volunteer for the Women Across Borders.
Nobu holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of California, Los Angeles with a focus on Public Interest, and a Master of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.
Welcome to the Council of Elders at Strahl Composite.
